HISTORY OF NUMEROLOGY
Numerology can be traced back some 10,000 years, and has its roots in the
Egypt and Babylonia, or so
it is thought by some practitioners. The Hebrew Kabbala, which
dates from the beginning of time!, deals with the subject.
The first real evidence comes from Pythagoras, the Greek father of
mathematics, who investigated this field 2600 years ago and generated
widespread interest in the subject, along with his other mathematical
studies. He used the 22-letter Hebrew alphabet, which is where the
difficulties arise with modern numerology.
Old wives tales are not just tales. Researchers are just beginning
to discover the curative properties of frogs and toads, yet "old wives"
knew about them centuries ago.
Researchers into the occult have noticed relationships between peoples
attributes (name, birthdate, star sign) and their characteristics. In
other words, there are clues about us that are discernable to those
initiated or educated into the secrets. Astrology relates the planet's
positions at a person's birth with the person's traits. Numerology works
with a person's name and birthdate to derive that person's nature. It is
surprising to most casual observers how closely the two disciplins agree
in their readings.
Why does numerology work?
I could say that numerology works this way and that way, but, as with most
old wives tales, no-one really knows, they have just discovered over
centuries of observation that this or that "works".
What I do know is that when a person changes their attitudes, their
aquaintences give them a new name (or nickname), or when a person
introduces themselves with a different name, their persona changes.
Whatever the reason - it works.
